The Day That Changed Us All

Poem: The Day That Changed Us All

A bright September morning, a day like any other When out of the clear blue sky, disaster did uncover. Two planes flew into towers, once standing proud and tall.
Fire, smoke and devastation, responding to the call.

So many innocent people, going about their day Lost in an instant, in such a tragic way. First responders rushing in, as others rushed away. An act of terror and hate, we’ll never forget that day.

A third plane crashed in a field, its target never found. While at the Pentagon, more innocents lost on the ground. So much needless heartache, loss and pain. Our unity and resilience, the only thing that remained.

Never forget those who left us, the survivors still carrying on. And the brave heroes who gave their all, until the long night was gone.
America stood strong, though shaken and distressed. An awful day forever etched, in our nation’s consciousness.

Blog Post:

September 11, 2001 is a date that will forever live in infamy in the United States. On that tragic day, 19 terrorists associated with the Islamic extremist group al-Qaeda hijacked four commercial airplanes, crashing two of them into the twin towers of the World Trade Center in New York City, and another into the Pentagon building in Arlington, Virginia. The fourth plane crashed into a field near Shanksville, Pennsylvania. The attacks resulted in the tragic loss of over 3,000 innocent lives and massive destruction to American symbols of economic and military power.

9/11 shattered America’s sense of security and changed the course of history for our nation. After the horrific events, nothing would ever be the same. I was only a child on that fateful day, but I can still vividly recall the shock and anguish felt across the country. Friends lost parents, siblings lost brothers and sisters. The pain was immense.

But united in grief, Americans found a renewed sense of patriotism and came together to support one another. First responders, including firefighters, police officers and paramedics, worked tirelessly in dangerous conditions to rescue people from the wreckage. Many paid the ultimate price. The courage and selflessness displayed was inspiring.

In the years since, the U.S. has honored those lost with memorials and museums. Survivors and families of victims still mourn their profound loss. We must never forget the sacrifices made and lives impacted. Though it shook us to our core, 9/11 showed the best of humanity. In dark times, we came together, found strength in community, and persevered. We healed as a nation stronger than before.

As a long-time fan of Babymetal, I have been eagerly anticipating the release of their latest album “The Other One”. The wait is finally over and I am thrilled to share my thoughts on this highly anticipated album.

“The Other One” is Babymetal’s first album since announcing their hiatus in August 2021 and their fourth studio album overall. The album features 10 tracks including ‘METAL KINGDOM’, ‘Divine Attack -Shingeki-’, ‘Mirror Mirror’, ‘MAYA’, ‘Time Wave’, ‘Believing’, ‘METALIZM’, ‘Monochrome’, ‘Light and Darkness’ and ‘THE LEGEND’.

Tracklist

After listening to the album, I can say that my favorite tracks so far are ‘METAL KINGDOM’, ‘Divine Attack -Shingeki-’, ‘Mirror Mirror’, ‘Monochrome’, ‘Believing’ and ‘THE LEGEND’. Each track brings something unique to the table and showcases the talent and versatility of Babymetal.

One thing that stands out about “The Other One” is how it differs from Babymetal’s previous albums in terms of sound. While their earlier work often featured a blend of J-pop and metal, “The Other One” leans more towards the rock side of the spectrum. The album showcases Babymetal’s versatility and willingness to experiment with different genres and sounds. It’s a refreshing change of pace and one that fans are sure to appreciate.

The Other One, has debuted at #1 in Japan and #39 in the US. This is the first time the band has topped the charts in Japan, and it marks their highest-charting album in the US. The album has been praised by critics for its catchy melodies and heavy metal riffs, and it’s clear that Babymetal’s popularity is continuing to grow.

Overall, I would give “The Other One” a rating of 4.5 stars out of 5. It’s a fantastic addition to Babymetal’s discography and a must-listen for any fan of the band.

Blazblue: Cross Tag Battle – A Game That Stands Out Despite Criticisms

Blazblue: Cross Tag Battle is one of my favorite 2v2 fighting games. It has a unique tag mechanic that lets players switch between two characters in battle. The game features characters from four different franchises: Blazblue, Persona 4 Arena, Under Night In-Birth, RWBY and more.

BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle Roster

My favorite team in the game is Yumi and Susano’o with the pink and green colors. Yumi is from Senran Kagura and was added to the game in version 2. She is a graceful and elegant fighter who uses ice attacks to freeze her opponents. Susano’o, on the other hand, is a powerful character from Blazblue who wields a massive sword and can unleash devastating attacks. I love their contrasting playstyles and how well they complement each other in battle.

Yumi

Yumi and Susano’o both come from different games. Yumi is from the Senran Kagura series, which is a series of action games that focus on female ninja characters. Susano’o, on the other hand, is a character from Blazblue, a series of 2D fighting games that have gained a large following over the years.

Susano’o

The game has improved a lot since its release, and the addition of rollback netcode has made it more enjoyable to play online. However, some players in the Blazblue community have criticized the game for its simplified mechanics and the fact that some characters are different from their original game. Additionally, some players did not like the fact that characters from RWBY were included in the game because they were not originally from a fighting game.

RWBY Characters

Despite these criticisms, Blazblue: Cross Tag Battle still holds a special place in my heart. The addition of characters from other franchises, such as RWBY, was a surprise for me as a fan of the show. I love the variety of characters and how well they fit into the game’s mechanics. I will continue to play the game and hope to see more players join in for some good fights.

The Return of Samurai Shodown (2019)? How Rollback Netcode is Looking to Bring the Community Back

For those that don’t know, Samurai Shodown (2019) is a fighting game developed and published by SNK, which is a reboot of the Samurai Shodown series that was first released in 1993. The game is known for its weapon-based combat system and its focus on precise timing and spacing. It features a cast of characters who are skilled swordfighters and martial artists from various countries.

One of the most notable additions to the series in Samurai Shodown (2019) is the inclusion of new characters such as Darli Dagger, Wu-Ruixiang, Yashamaru Kurama, and Shizuka Gozen.

Darli Dagger

Darli Dagger is a shipwright who travels the world in search of a masked man who destroyed one of her ships.

Wu-Ruixiang

Wu-Ruixiang is a wanderer and descendant of an ancient and honorable Feng Shui clan who travels the world in the service of the Emperor of the Qing Dynasty to discover the source of the evil that plagues the country.

Yashamaru Kurama

Yashamaru Kurama is a young man of Tengu lineage who seeks revenge for his father’s death at the hands of the Tokugawa Shogunate.

Shizuka Gozen is the final boss of the game, a young woman who died some time before the game’s events and returns as a vengeful demonic force.

Warden

In addition to the new characters, Samurai Shodown (2019) also features crossover characters from other video game series, including Warden from Ubisoft’s For Honor series, Hibiki Takane from The Last Blade series, Gongsun Li from Tencent’s Honor of Kings mobile series, and Baiken from Arc System Works’ Guilty Gear series.

Baiken

However, the game suffered from delay-based netcode, which became a major issue during the COVID-19 pandemic when online play became more prevalent. The community tried to keep the game alive by using Parsec as an alternative, but ultimately, the game’s popularity declined.

In addition to Parsec, Discord has also played a vital role in keeping the Samurai Shodown community alive. The platform has allowed players to connect with each other, share tips and strategies, organize tournaments, and even find sparring partners. Even during the pandemic, players were able to come together on Discord and continue to play and enjoy Samurai Shodown. With the addition of rollback netcode, the Discord community will only continue to grow, bringing even more players together from all over the world to experience the thrilling weapon-based combat of this iconic fighting game.

Gongsun Li

To address this issue, Code Mystics Inc, the company responsible for porting the game to various platforms, is now trying to apply rollback netcode to the game. The company started with a rough start with Beta 1 on the Steam version, which had issues with graphical glitches, weapon disappearing, random frame drops, and game crashes after every match. However, the company is working hard to fix these issues before the next beta.

Hibiki Takane

Despite the initial setbacks, there is optimism within the Samurai Shodown community that the game will be revitalized once the rollback netcode is implemented. Fans are excited to see SNK and Code Mystics Inc trying to do the game justice, and many hope that more players will join the community once the game is fully functional online.

In conclusion, Samurai Shodown (2019) is a unique fighting game with a rich history that has garnered a loyal following over the years. With the addition of new characters and crossover characters, the game has managed to keep its gameplay fresh and exciting. While the delay-based netcode hurt the game, there is hope that the upcoming rollout of rollback netcode will revive the game and bring more players to the Samurai Shodown community.
